THE PROBLEM

Tackling the Neighborhood Community Crisis

Since the pandemic, fostering neighborly relationships has become a more daunting and challenging task to accomplish.

THE RESEARCH

Through a conducted survey, we found that people are hesitant to reach out to their neighbors.

Respondents aged 18-25 exhibited the highest hesitancy rate at 72%, while those aged 40 and above had a comparatively lower hesitancy rate of 56%, suggesting a potential generational difference in neighborly interactions.

What We Learned

At the end of finishing this project, I noticed a great improvement in my UI design skills and knowledge, as opposed to my last designathon. I felt much more confident going into this, but realized that creating a perfect project is much less attainable in 36 hours. We were very satisfied with the overall design and vision we had for the app, but it was evident that we fell short in conducting user research and narrowing down the problems we were trying to resolve. In hindsight, I would spend much less time in the design process and prioritize problem solving and user research.
